Colmes Shuts Up MSM About Adultery...By Raising McCain
Alan Colmes may have finally figured out how to get the media to shut up about the John Edwards affair: he raised the issue of John McCain's infidelity.
Last night on Sean Hannity's show, he delivered a blistering smackdown to the hypocrites spewing forth their sanctimonious garbage about Edwards' personal life. (Video posted below and in the Vodpod.)
Interestingly, since Colmes destroyed the FOX talkers, the MSM has nearly stopped talking about Edwards. Using the closed caption data for the news shows on FOX, CNN, and MSNBC, I looked at the frequency with which John Edwards was mentioned over the past few days. (With the exception of Hardball, I don't record repeats.)
The following table shows the number of broadcasts that mentioned Edwards.
(Note that this is not the total number of mentions -- as long as "John Edwards" is mentioned at least once on a program. I don't currently have an easy way to count the number of mentions per program, but will be adding that soon.)
- Friday: 23
- Saturday: 21
- Sunday: 17
- Monday: 25
- Tuesday: 19 (this is when Colmes sounded off)
- Wednesday as of 10PM Eastern: 6*
So, as predicted, as soon as John McCain's infidelity came up as a topic of discussion, the MSM seems to have suddenly discovered that private lives ought to be left private.
Which brings us back to that whole sanctimonious hypocrisy thing.

*It's worth noting that the one of the six shows to mention Edwards was Countdown -- which was doing so to criticize Limbaugh and praise Colmes.
